Of course this hardly matters to California residents, as their means of voting for Nader have been taken away.

Maybe someday the US will be a democracy. But that day is not today. In fact, the neoliberal mandate appears to be stronger than ever.

Walt Sheasby reported last Thursday that the socialist group Solidarity endorsed the Nader/ Camejo campaign. Now if only they could get on the ballot anywhere... Nader spends too much time defending himself against the ABBs.

MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE REMAKE

I saw the remake of "The Manchurian Candidate" this weekend. It's fun to follow this movie's plot to its grim end; what's really amusing about it, though, is the paranoid world which it paints. Terrorism has become normal; all of the bad trends of the present have become amplified. Corporations have taken over. Another movie not pointing the way to social change; but this is about rogue corporations whose power-players manipulate individuals and the world.

JOB GROWTH DOWN; JOB QUALITY DOWN

The trend is toward fewer jobs, slower job growth, and less pay. At some point, then, capitalism will cease to pay at all for the working class.

When that happens, watch out.

Meanwhile, an article by CFR member Youssef M. Ibrahim published in Gulf News tells us that the Kerry Administration could be worse on foreign policy than the Bush Administration. It's important to publicize this stuff because most of the Democrats are in denial about Kerry's stated positions on foreign policy issues.
